Hi ,

The listener creates it's socket files in the directory /var/tmp/.oracle . It clears those files occasionally but not all the time . It is also said that clearing the old socket files will help sometimes when the listener hangs . can any one explain the logic behind this ?
Thanks in advance .

regards ,

Hi,

First time I've heard this. What is your source? Personally I think this is nonsense. You can safely ignore these files and let Oracle manage them.

BTW: It is better to post networking and listener issues in the appropriate forum.

Best regards.
